The 'Davis' Special, AKA 'Foamer Special' Features ALL Remaining CNWs

3atnevada.jpg A cross field shot of a classic Iowa autumn scene: CNW engines roaming
through fields of freshly picked corn.

3cnwscambridge.jpg The terrific three CNW engines, which make up the entire roster of
'untouched' CNW locomotives, were together on this manifest southbound
                      at Cambridge.

cnw8646-cambridge.jpg Here's a (low flying) birds eye view of MVPDM 29 as it ducked under
the Hwy 210 bridge at Cambridge.

cnw8701-camb.jpg CNW 8701 was the third unit in the consist heading south. The train
will go on to yard at Des Moines.

cnw8701.jpg CNW 8701 awaits its next assignment, resting peacefully under the
lights at Short Line sand tower.

cnwsboone.jpg In a classic scene at Boone, three more CNW units can be found awaiting
their next assignments: 4705 and 06 will be used for the local, while
8808 will go up the Tara for grain train duty.
bridge.jpg Standing on a small balcony off the Woodward bridge, I photographed
CNW 1311 as it crawled across this now extinct part of railroad history.

devilshollow.jpg First sight of the "Foamer Special:" CNW 8646 ducks under the east
west main followed by CNW 8575 and 8701

slater.jpg On a beautiful fall day in 2001, LTJ52 is eastbound at Slater, IA.

up3838.jpg A broadside of an eastbound manifest as it passes through Scranton,
IA and on through the fields of corn ready to be harvested.

updash8.jpg During the fifteen minute wait for the "foamer special," I got bored
and photographed this former CNW unit leading what is likely MPRCB.

woodward.jpg After countless miles of running 10 MPH, the local finally gets to
its destination of Woodward, IA to spot some fertilizer.
