August CNW's Boone and Ames |

NOTES |
| CNW 6847 was leading a ballast train at West Ames Yard on August 5. | |
| A very delayed MCBPR was stuck tied down in Boone for two straight days due to conjestion on the main line. CNW 8680 was on the point. | |
| A look at the congestion... All these trains but one have a crew in them! Looking west at the hard road... The trains aren't moving because there are two more trains on the east side of the crossing on the main line. | |
| I got to meet a pretty high-up UP official while photographing the CNW 6847. The MoW special would leave for Des Moines later in the week. | |
| I still like those flagged GE's. Ignore the Armour Yellow paint, and they are pretty cool looking. Here's one with an SP patch. | |
| CNW 8830 | I saw 8830 on the trace and decided to take my chances... Luckily for me, it was leading. Here's the first contact at Minnesota Avenue. It was 1pm, and obviously the sun was running behind schedule, as the train IS westbound! |
| CNW 6914 | MITDA had a stranger to Iowa in the consist. CNW 6914, the only other zito yellow engine on the system , was the second unit in the consist. It is pictured in Short Line Yard. |
| CNW 6914-side | Here's a side view of the unit. Nice logo, most have faded to white. |
| CNW 8830 | CNW 8830 west makes its way to the county road outside Ames' city limits. It got held up at a signal shortly after. |
| CNW 8830 | The consist finally got a green signal and was moving at quite a clip at V Avenue as it split the signals. |
| CNW 6847 | Here's an angled look at the CNW 6847 at Ames Yard. |
| CNW 8680 | The sun's last rays shine behind the scotchlit stripes and logos on the CNW 8680. The unit was waiting at Marion on the evening of August 9. |
