Colo to Boone CNW 8820 & 8821 |

NOTES |
| I headed out east to cut off the consist on its way west from Marshalltown. It wasn't long before I saw a headlight on the horizon in Colo. It was the DMDM, with CNW 6847 the second unit. A train close by called the dispatcher as CNW 8821, so I stayed there to catch the consist. Here it is passing over Hwy. 65. | |
| The westbound coal train crossed the spine line at Devil's Hollow shortly after. The five big engines on the front seemed to have no problem with the empty coal train. | |
| Here's the consist as it heads into Nevada. | |
| CNW 8821 and 8820 are now paralleling old Hwy. 30 after passing the Jordan elevator. | |
| Before hitting the Shamrock, the train stopped at this gravel road for a crew change because of other activities at Boone Yard. After this pic, it was off to get an overhead. | |
| 8821 Overhead | The zoom stopped working on my "new" camrea (POS?), so the overhead came out a little less crisp than I would have liked. |
| Back at the Yard... | Another surprise was waiting back on the west end of the yard. CNW 8817 idled on the service track along with an SP engine. |
| CNW 8817 | A nicer wide angle shot of 8817. Boy these AC's are starting to get mighty dirty, no? |
| Bonus Spine Coverage | |
| ICE 363 | Right lettering, wrong paint: My first shot of an ICE engine is found on the Spine Line just north of Hull Avenue. |
| First Pic from SS! | Sort of "out the window," but at least SP, this is my first photo from South St. Paul... Expect higher quantity, and one would hope, quality, in the future... |
| Eagle Grove Engines | On the way back from SS, we decided to pass through Eagle Grove. We caught a train in Clarion, and stopped at the Yard office at EA. There were about ten units idling on this cold winter day. |
