• Following Iowa's E/W Mains

MCBDM detours on the IAIS eastbound toward Des Moines.  The Bluffs has been running the train between 8000-10,000 feet in length lately.

The Bayard local trundles across the Milwaukee's bridge over the Great Western in Manning, Iowa

After all these years, all grade crossings in Manning are still separated, so the trains quietly pass through unnoticed, except for one on the far west end of town by the ethanol plant.

BNSF still runs the Bayard local with a caboose, which always sparks memories of an earlier era.

From inside the Council Bluffs dept, the IAIS switcher meets the MCBDM detour.

About twenty miles east of Council Bluffs, MCBDM detours eastbound on the IAIS.

  • Hustle and Bustle on the Highway 6/I-80 interchange can be seen while MCBDM detours eastbound at Council Bluffs, IA.

East of Templeton, the Bayard local crosses over one of the many western Iowa gravel roads.

Eastbound Amtrak appears on the BNSF in Omaha with a one hour late train.
